This is a list of Easter Eggs that I’ve kept as they’ve come into Mac Sys section 16, Easter Eggs. Following is a list of application Eggs. Where I had the contributor’s name, I’ve listed it, but I haven’t listed duplicates. If you need additional information about those Eggs, please contact the contributor, as I don’t have all the programs that are here. If anybody knows of other Eggs, or corrections to any of these, please post them to section 16 or message me, Kay Nelson 72000,1176.
After Dark
Set your clock to Dec. 25 and use the Fractal Forest module (supplied, I believe, with More After Dark).
Adobe Photoshop
In PhotoShop, Option-select About PhotoShop to see the names of the original designers.
In Photoshop 2.5, Option-click on the About box for any of the distortion filters. There’ll be a little check box at the bottom left of the About box, saying Show Preview and Sliders. Clicking on it changes the user interface so that when you pick Distortion plug-ins from then on, you’ll get a new, improved, undocumented user interface.
Also, hold down Command-Shift and click About Adobe Photoshop to bring up a hidden menu. (Camera & Darkroom’s Magazi 70007,3477 (Ctein)
In Photoshop 2.5, hold down the Option key when selecting About... any of the distort filters (twirl, pinch, etc.). You’ll get a dialog box with a check box. Selecting it will activate a preview function for these filters... you also get to see a neat caricature of John Knoll.
Also, if you hold down the Command key and select About Photoshop, you see the 'secret' about box from Mr Wizard... the strange letters in the new password displayed will have meaning (if read backwards) to any fan of "The Day the Earth Stood Still." (Randy Lee 72405,32)

Alias Sketch 1.5
Hold the Command key down as you get the About box and you'll see a photograph of the programming team posed on the grass with their signatures in white ink superimposed on the grass. Sketch is a great 3D modelling and rendering program, a bit off the beaten track from the usual word processors, spreadsheets, utilities and whatnot, so you may just have to take my word on this one. It's a classy egg if you can track down a copy of Sketch 1.5 . (David Sattar 100015,652)

CIM
The CIM Easter Egg: Hold down Command-Control-Option-Shift and choose About CIM from the Apple menu.
This allows you access to a private manager’s box that allows latin-1 character sets, logo info, and “allow infoplex access,” whatever that is. It also makes the globe spin in reverse. (Theodore D. Stalcup 75030,1156)
In version 2.1.1 (and probably earlier versions as well),
Get the About box and command-click on the spinning globe. It'll start spinning backwards. Stay on it, and after a few seconds you get the development team credits. (David Sattar 100015,652)
Press Option-Shift-Command while selecting "About CIM" from the Apple menu. This allows extended Latin-1 character sets, access to an obsolescent version of Compuserve Email and, more useful, it allows for the generation of TXT logs of CIM sessions. (Theodore D. Stalcup 75030,1156)

Compact Pro
In Compact Pro, when your register, you name will scroll across the screen if you keep the About box open. (Christopher G. Dona 100036,62)

DART
Select About DART and click on the dartboard.

Excel
In Excel 3, choose Style from the Format menu, type excel, choose About Excel, and click on the big Excel icon. In an Excel spreadsheet, press Command-Right arrow and Command-down arrow to go to the bottom-right cell. Make the column width and row height zero., Then click on the down arrow and right arrow in the scroll bars in the bottom right of the window until no cells are showing. Click on the gray rectangle in the window's upper left.
Here's another one for Excel 3.0: Choose Format Styles and type excel. Then choose About Excel from the Apple menu and click on the Excel logo.
On a color Mac, hold down Shift-3-D after double-clicking Excel 3. Your toolbar will be displayed in 3D. To go back to the original toolbar, delete the Excel Settings file. (Theo Heselmans (GnOsIs) 100015,261)

Disinfectant
Here's a great one! In Disinfectant, select About Disinfectant from the Apple menu; then open the File menu (or any other menu) and release the mouse button. That's Sousa's "Liberty Bell March" that you're hearing, in case you'd like to know. It's addictive; I keep hearing it in my head.

Click on the icon that’s in the About box.

FlashWrite II
Option-select About FlashWrite II under the logo.

FreeHand 3.1
In FreeHand 3.1’s About box, Option-click on the center of the diamond shape in the stained glass. It’s different each time. (Paul Schliesser 71610,3370)

HyperCard
In HyperCard, hold down the Option key while you choose About HyperCard from the Apple menu. You'll see your name, if you've entered it in the Chooser, and (in HyperCard 2.1) a screen listing information about your Macintosh, such as the version of the system software you're running, the ROM version, total memory size, and so forth.
Depending on which version of HyperCard you‘re running, you may see something different. On a Quadra, you’ll see that your system is a Macintosh Macintosh.
Somewhere in the HyperCard code, a programmer tells of his love for a girlfriend. Anybody got directions to this one?

Choose About Jam Session to hear a recording and watch credits.

Jewelbox
In Jewelbox 1.0 (shareware version), choose About Jewelbox and click on the gray Jewel icon. (David Ben Leavitt 72375,1571)

KiwiEnvelopes 3.1--choose About KiwiEnvelopes to watch a mail truck and the resulting development credits.

Living Trust
In version 1.0.2, hold down the Option key and choose About to hear a message from the authors. (Bill DeFelice 72467,1053)

Option-select About MacDraw Pro.

MacPaint 2.0
(only the first releases of this version): Press Tab and the space bar and select About MacPaint.

Metamorphosis Pro
Command-Option select About Metamorphosis Pro.

Microsoft Word
In Microsoft Word 4, press and hold the Command key in the About Word dialog box. Click on the flying W logo.
In 3.01 and 4, spell-check the word childcare.
In Word 5, hold down Command and Shift and choose Preferences from the Tools menu. Scroll to the last item, which should be a new Credits icon that you've never seen before. (If the Credits icon doesn't appear, close the Preferences dialog box and try again.) Click on it to watch a color display. To stop the display, click again.

Navigator
In Navigator, click Mike's face in the About box. (This has extra good stuff if your Face file has sounds.) (Joe Sewell 74136,360)

In Norton’s Wipe:
1. Select About Wipe Info
2. Option-Diamond (in front of version number.)
3. An eraser appears.
4. Use this eraser to completely erase all the dialog box (it puts zeroes

In Norton v2.0:
Get the About box. Option-click or Command-click on the little diamond directly in front of "version 2.0" to see the manic programmers as they see themselves. (David Sattar 100015,652) Works in version 1.1, too.

In PageMaker 4.2, do a Command-About PageMaker to get a list of the current Additions installed. Do a Shift-About PM to see the programming credits. (Mark Karp 72436,2756)

PBTools
Command-Option-Shift-click the PBTools logo in the PBTools control panel. The names of the beta testers appear there. (Robert Seaver (Sysop) 76711,324)

Red Ryder--click the About box to display the developer’s head and a message saying “please don’t click on my head.” Then click on his head.

In the QuickTime Simple Player, press Option while you select About Simple Player from the Apple menu to see some nice cats.

QuicKeys
In QuicKeys, click Open. Then click on the QuicKeys logo to see the credits. Wait a bit, and you'll see a variation on the Energizer bunny, complete with sound effects.

Ready,Set,Go
In Ready,Set,Go, press Command-Option-Shift-c and choose About from the Apple menu. (CanOpener can find this one if you set it to search R,S,G’s resource fork for pictures.) (Ed Ludwig 71210,1545)

Remember?
Choose What About Me and wait a minute. You’ll see a message at the bottom of the dialog box. It’s reported that this doesn’t work in version 2.3.

SoundEdit
Choose About SoundEdit to see a system crash alert.

SpeedDisk
Command-click on the little diamond directly in front of the version number in the About box to see the letters in SpeedDisk change.

TeachText
In TeachText, press Option and choose About TeachText from the Apple menu.

THINK Reference 2,0
THINK Reference 2.0 egg: bring it up and let it sit a while. After a LONG while (it may require putting it in the background), the “THINKer” will change positions. (Joe Sewell 74136,360)
In THINK Reference 2.0, type in
“GetProcessSerialNumberFromPortName Tips”
to jump to that page. Be sure to type past the space. There are some interesting tips on that page.
